Every so often an idea comes along that elicits the response ‘I wish I’d thought of that’.

Bowmer Bond PVC coated polyester webbing is one of those ideas. Up to now, fixing large format signs and building wraps has required the use of pre-assembled ‘L’ section PVC strip with metal grommets inserted.The PVC strips have to be cut from a larger sheet of material and the grommets inserted down one edge before the PVC strip is welded to the banner. This is known in the industry as dragontail.

That was then.This is now.

The new coated webbing from Bowmer Bond does the job better, quicker and very cost-effectively and the secret is in the loops. The Bowmer Bond webbing has just two components: a polyester yarn and a PVC paste. The yarn is a continuous web that is coated on one side with the paste.The uncoated side allows the yarn filaments to break free from the surface and create loops at regular intervals, loops with a breaking strain of around 250kg. No more metal grommets.

The PVC paste coating can then be welded to a banner using hot air, high frequency or induction welding techniques. The loops enable the banner to be fixed to scaffolding or building mounting points using bungee or shock cords that are simply threaded through them.

The obvious advantages of Bowmer Bond webbing are that it can be used as delivered straight from the roll with no pre-assembly. It’s also easy to order, stock and use and eliminating pre-assembly saves hours of labour and shortens lead times on banner delivery.

As the webbing is made from the same material as PVC sheet, the used banner can be recycled as it is without the need for preparatory work: no grommets to remove.

It’s often said that the best ideas are the simplest and this is a simple idea that really works to save you both time and money without any compromises in quality.
